Blogging is a powerful tool to build and promote your business. But as is the case with all things worth doing, there is always a better wayā¦donāt you agree? There are definitely things to look for that you can improve, and there are a lot of common little mistakes you can avoid to help yourself help others.
Because thatās what your blog is about, correct? Helping your readers.
Here are a few things to look for:
True, some blogs get so many comments that itās virtually impossible to answer everyone. I personally believe in taking steps to minimize that from happening. Thatās a topic for a different postā¦the value of staying small. Iāll get to that later, but for now let me just say that responsiveness is key.
I work with business owners, right? They often say they donāt have any time to blog or stay on top of their email, but in the same breath they complain about lack of business. What is that? If youāre rolling in opportunities and theyāre coming in so fast that you simply cannot take them all on, that is fantastic successā¦a problem in and of itself. But a good problem nonetheless.
However, many are slow and struggling to make ends meet and STILL complaining about how they donāt have time. This means one thing, you need to hire me to dig into your business and help you prioritize and get a marketing strategy together that will get you results, correct? Just a thought. Or, you can continue diving into the articles I offer here and the other blogs I link up here. The answers are available to you, I guarantee you.
One thing is for sure, if youāre not getting the results you want from your blog, itās because of one of these: youāre either not doing what it takes to get results, OR you are doing it right but just havenāt given it enough time to pay off yet.
One of the reasons I love blogging and internet marketing is because if you do the work consistently and follow proven techniques, you get the result, period. Maybe not overnight (usually NOT overnight), but you GET THE RESULT. And Iām all about results. How about you?

I got a question from a reader the other day about how to use RSS as a promotional tool and to get more traffic for your blog. You can use RSS as a great way to get subscribers and syndicate the content you publish to a number of other sources.
Many of you know about RSS already, but if you have questions about what it is or how to use it, this quick video will show you what I personally do to use RSS to promote my blog. I hope it helps, and I welcome questions š

I just needed to take a second to acknowledge some downright rockin content by Jason Baer over at Convince and Convert. This slide show says it all, so I’ll leave this one short and let you enjoy it. It’s full of straight-to-the-point blog tips that will get you results. I just want to point out a serious insight on slide #8…it’s OK if you’re not all perfect yet.
So many people want to have everything figured out before they start. Just start! There is huge value in just putting yourself out there. Believe me, you’ll learn what you need to do to get results!
Please let me know what you think š

I just got off the phone with best-selling author John Rowley. Heās the author of āClimb Your Ladder of Success Without Running Out of Gasā. John has a truly inspiring story of hard work and triumphing over adversity. Iāve learned a lot from him, and itās been awesome getting the chance to talk with him.
The reason I wanted to mention my call with him is two-fold. First of all, I just love having the opportunity to mention his story and his book to you. I recommend learning more about John and getting his book if you havenāt already. Heās an accomplished business owner, a best selling author and an engaging and dynamic speaker. Anyone interested in taking their life or business to the next level (thatās you!) can learn some valuable lessons from him.
Secondly, as always Iām exploring the options for taking my business to the next level, and as such Iāve been looking at the possibilities of putting out a book at some point. Thatās what I wanted to talk with John about.
One of the reasons I wanted to meet Gary Vaynerchuk in Chicago recently is the same thingā¦I wanted to meet someone at a book tour in real life and get a sense of it. Do I want to put out a book at some point? I am on the fence. Iām not in a position to do it right this moment of course, but should it be part of my long term plan? Thatās what Iām trying to answer.
My conversation with John was about thatā¦whatās the deal with putting out a book? Whatās the value in it? Whatās the schedule like? How do you get it done? And of courseā¦should I do it?
Here are a few things I learned:
Iām naturally a pretty low key guy and just like running my niche business. Gary Vaynerchuk has the ambition to own the Jets and basically become a billionaire. John Rowley wants to put out more books, have his own TV show and run other businesses. These are both awesome guys that I learn a lot from, but I just like building sites and marketing them! I like selling, and I like interacting with my community. I honestly have no personal interest in having a show of my own. Itās just not my bag š
So should I write a book? To me right now, it seems unnecessaryā¦which really is not what I expected. It seemed like an obvious next step for me in about a year or two. You never know what direction things will go, and Iām definitely not ruling it out. But currently, if I have to choose between putting out a traditional book or launching a new internet marketing projectā¦Iām gonna stick with internet marketingā¦at least for now š
One thing I wanted to point out in case itās not already obviousā¦John Rowley was very gracious to give me some of his time. We talked on the phone for a good 20 minutes or soā¦something he did not have to do. He did it purely out of generosity, and Iām very appreciative. Iāve been repeatedly amazed at how generous and forthcoming the top achievers in my network are. Thanks again John!
