The first essential step when it comes to running an effective and profitable web marketing campaign is to get people’s attention. Without first getting the attention of the people in your market, you’re not ever going to generate leads and make sales.
This all begins with establishing a unique place for yourself in your market.
Ask yourself these questions:
- Why should your customers buy from you and not anyone else?
- What makes you unique?
- Why do we find that people who like you still sometimes end up buying with someone else?
- What is your “unique selling proposition”?
- What is the one thing that you do better than anyone else?
These are crucial questions that a surprising number of business owners do not have answered. These questions are a great place to start. Block off an hour or two sometime this week, and make a commitment to answer those questions seriously. It will go a long way toward helping you attract a lot more customers and clients!
Get Their Attention and Generate Leads
Bottom line, if you have a unique value that you bring to your industry…something that people want, are willing and able to pay for, that they cannot find elsewhere, you’re in the right place. This is exactly what gets people’s attention. This is exactly what gets them to sign up for your email list and eventually buy from you. If you want to get the ball rolling with your web marketing, this is where you start.
If on the other hand, you’re offering the same thing as 50 other business owners in your market (or 5,000 others?), then you have a problem. It’s a LOT more difficult, a LOT more expensive and a LOT more time consuming to get people’s attention this way.
Are you a real estate professional, a computer repair technician or a personal fitness trainer? These are examples of highly competitive fields. A lot of people do this kind of work. Many millions of people actually. Most of the people I work with as clients are in fields like this. Does being in a very competitive market mean you cannot stand out? Are you doomed to obscurity, forever struggling to find clients and customers? Not at all. It just means you need to take a minute, identify some of your strengths and use them to your advantage. This is the extra work that most business owners don’t do, and it’s exactly what you can use in your favor.
Most likely, you have an enormous amount of knowledge and value that you’re NOT putting to good use. Unlocking that value and putting it to work for you in your business is part of what I aim to help you accomplish as a reader of Dangerous Tactics.
